Micro$oft’s Courier sure looks promising

courieruiii_01

so if you haven’t seen this thing, I recommend  going straight to the video and skip all the reading. This thing looks like it is going to take on the tablet market and kill all who stands in it’s way. This looks to kill the Kindle, the Sony whatever and any others that are coming to market anytime soon. Watching the video, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. It basically puts a tablet in a book style and then adds a touch screen interface and makes you feel like you are literally opening a book and reading it, only BETTER! I watched the guy flip a page, and it looked like a real book changing pages as he turned it across the two screens! Even when you use the stylus, it looked like he was taking notes on a real notepad!!! Just watch the video and so some research for this thing in the near future!

Pioneer’s 12x blu-ray burner is released to FLY!!

BDR_205_low

Pioneer has released to the public a blu-ray burner that is SICK!!!! This thing definitely exceeds dvd and cd burners when they first came out. It runs a full 12x on the blu-ray discs, but the problem is, these discs don’t even exist yet. Right now, you can only get 6x off the consumer market. You can’t find this sweet piece of burning goodness just yet, they are slowing leaking them out the OEM providers and should be able to see this thing in Q1 of 2010 for a retail of $249.

Livestream’s Livepack does “HD quality” video over 3G

livepack-livestream

livestream

Ever heard of Livestream?? neither had I. I saw this post on Engadget and almost fell out. This company has set up a very high quality live stream pack, or as they are calling it, “satellite television truck in a backpack”. Basically this thing does great HD video over (8) 3G modems that are load balanced across 3 different networks (AT&T, Sprint & Verizon). It encodes the video in a very high quality h.264 (at 700 kbps upload) over a firewire cable connected directly to the camera. The user has to provide their own DV cam, but you can rent this thing for $2,500 for a month or $1,500 a month on a 1 year contract. The unit can record for up to 3 hours, and do hot swapping batteries so you can carry two batteries and do 6 hours of field recording! Watch the video below for a full demo from the company who made it:

Google announces push email for iPhone

googlesyncgooglemail-large

So last week Google announced Google Sync for the iPhone. This allows you to sync your emails, contacts and calendars with your Google account. Basically Google has setup an exchange server for your gmail(well to be a little more specific, they are using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol). This allows your gmail to be pushed to your phone as soon as you get it, instead of either manually downloading it or automatically downloading it on a scheduled rotation.

It also allows you to keep multiple calendars on your phone as well. You can use your native calendar and it will keep you up-to-date with appointments and invitations with sound and vibration.

I tried the sync of  the contacts, but it didn’t put my phone contacts on the gmail server. So I don’t know how it all works yet, but I am testing it out. So far, I don’t really like it; I liked the IMAP better because whatever I saw on my phone, I saw on gmail, but I couldn’t sync my contacts. Well…. I’ll test it for a little while.

To see a full run down on how to set it up, check out the site here.

Turn your jailbroken iPhone into a WiFi hotspot

MyWiWeb_1

MyWi. What is it? Is it like the MiFi??? Well, yes in a way. It turns your iPhone into a WiFi hotspot for others to connect to. Anywhere you have a 3G connection, you can share it with friends. It works on a 40bit and 104bit WEP encryption, so no one can access it that you don’t want (technically not b/c WEP is the weakest encryption). This program also turns on your tethering via USB or bluetooth. It even shows an up and down bandwith usage so you can keep a running tabs on the usage of this program. This also turns your spot into a SSID and not an ADHOC network….You can see the full description and information on their website here.

Total Cost: $9.99

You need to have a jailbroken iPhone and have Cydia installed to get it. When you get that, it will then also install RockYourPhone beta. This does it automatically without you needing to search for it. RockYourPhone is another application store, but everything in there is paid for apps. They do have free demos, but you have to search that one down. I will stick with iPhone Modem for now, as I paid for the full version of that one.
