Gamer Blu-Ray Playback Issues
4
So here I am again complaining about blu-ray discs that aren’t playing properly. I just purchased a new Philips BDP-5012 player and it already has issues. I updated to the latest firmware and still I get the same issue. All I see is a little square in the middle of the screen and get sound. Let me back up; I also just bought Gamer (2009) with the digital copy. Now I can just go ahead and download the digital copy to my iTunes and watch it that way, but I want to see the full glory of it in 1080p!! All I am asking, is that the companies that are building these blu-ray players, keep them up-to-date. Even if they are last year’s model, but it does have a net connection. So all I should do is, turn it on, and it update, and the darn thing play! Philips, I am calling you out! Please fix this issue!!!!
Streaming Neflix soon to have 5.1 and CC
0
If you have Netflix streaming, you could soon be in for a nice little update. 5.1 Surround Sound and Closed Captioning will soon be on the streaming service of Netflix. There were reports that there was going to be 1080p video, but apparently those were scrapped. Netflix was talking to CNET about their roadmap for 2010 updates and this is where they seem to be going. As of now, there isn’t any time or details as to when this is going to happen, but sometime during this year, you should see the update.

Free Wireless mouse on your iPhone
0OK, so I was watching one of my favorite Revision 3 shows AppJudgement (YouTube link) and they were doing a Hot App of the day and they came across this little gem. It’s Logitech’s Touch Mouse, and it’s completely FREE. It basically connects to your PC or Mac over wifi and gives you a trackpad and a keyboard to work with! Did I mention that it was FREE??!!! The lag time isn’t even really there either. I used it for a few minutes and it’s great. Now I can run my computer hooked up to my flat screen TV across the room!!! You need the Logitech software installed on your PC or Mac, that you can get from Logitech.com/touchmouse. If you paid for other wireless mouse apps in the app store, I’m sorry, because this is awesome! AppJudgement didn’t go into much detail, but you can see this guy’s video below:

Can Microsoft humble the Jesus Phone with WM7???
0With Microsoft soon to be announcing Windows Mobile 7 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month, there is high speculation that there will be a Zune Phone, model after the Zune HD, being able to play HD video straight out the box. Not only that, but be able to plug HDMI straight out too! I would think they would follow the Zune HD and make it via a dock connector of some sort, but we shall see. There has apparently been evidence of the existence of a Zune phone since the last update to the USB driver software. The phone will run the Tegra platform from Nvida just like the Zune HD does, so it may be the best screen you have ever seen! The idea seems that it will not be particularly a Zune phone, but a Windows Mobile phone with Zune software, much like the iPhone runs iPod software.
Here is a mockup:
