Remember way back last year when AT&T announced they would allow Skype VoIP calls over 3G? Well its been quite a while, but now with the new iOS4, Skype has finally updated to allow their calls over 3G to happen and allow them to be received even after the app is left. It will run in the background to allow you be online all the time. When you receive a call, a little notification bubble will pop up and let you know who is calling. The best part is that there are no additional charges for using your data instead of minutes. The only thing is, if you just jumped on the “unlimited” iPhone plan, you only have 2GB instead of those who were grandfathered in with the 5GB cap.

So if you haven’t heard, Google has now opened the by-invite-only Google Voice service. With the service only being just over a year old, and having a modest 1 million users it seems fitting to open it up to the public. I have been using this service for over 6 months now and it is great to see it now open to everyone. The idea is that you only need one number for the rest of your life, and you can just forward your Google number to your actual number. It’s great, because if you ever change service from landlines or cells, you don’t have to go and change everything, as long as you told everyone your google number… Check it out below:

Well, they added the uni-body design to the machine and it looks GREAT! The power brick has also been eliminated and the power supply is internal to add to the new design. Well, we see the new ports being HDMI (with mini display port) and now an SD card slot as well! Plenty of USB to go around and even an ever dying firewire…

Now how about the fact that you can upgrade (sort of) to DUAL 500 GB and loose the SuperDrive? Think you can attack all that storage space in one sitting? I’ll give you a chance, and then come back to me… Also you go from a dual core 2.4 to a 2.6GHz with both having the NVIDIA 320 chip inside.. You can also double the memory from 2 to 4GB or from 4 to 8GB… Now try watching your favorite podcasts on that machine connected to your HDTV of choice.. I bet it looks PHENOMENAL!!

Apparently it looks like T-Mobile is giving away all of their phones. Seriously. For Father’s Day 2010 (6/19 – this Saturday), you can pick up any T-Mobile phone for FREE, with a small catch. The ‘catch’ is you have to have a new 2yr agreement with at least a family plan or add a line to a current family plan. This seems enough for anyone new to the T-Mobile family and getting tired of their current provider, but that means a minimum of at least 2 phones and probably a minimum shared minutes plan as well… but seems well worth it for HTC HD 2!

Ok, so if you missed it, with all the hub-bub about the pre-orders for the iPhone 4, Xbox announced yesterday at E3 2010 the new Xbox 360 (slim). This new box is ready for purchase today and project Natal renamed Kinect for the Xbox 360 (to be available 11/4/10)! The new box is thinner than it’s previous model and just being named “the new xbox 360″. It is said to be “whisper quiet”, and comes with wireless built in! This model will come with a 250GB HD built in as well.

Also being announced with the new hardware were many new games for the Xbox Kinect, like Kinect Sports (very similar to Wii Sports, but with NO controller!!!). Also, all the games we were already expecting for a late summer launch, like Halo Reach, Metal Gear Solid:Rising, Fable 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Not only these awesome titles, but an exclusive partnership with ESPN to bring college football, basketball, MLB, NBA and soccer to the Xbox 360 via ESPN 3.

Also being announced were a few updates to the OS, including video kinect, which allows you to use the camera on base station to video chat with any one on the MS network, including PCs and Xbox users alike! Now this is great, so that you can use this camera with anyone with the MSN messenger or Windows Live Messenger, and not just limited to your Xbox buddies.

Now there is definitely no reason for any single guys like me to have a cable bill. Just sign up for internet and all I want is on my Xbox or my PC.

Ok, First of all.. Everyone reading this from the Sprint Users and Android Users groups, you’re all completely retarded. I vote the mayor to be the guy who wrote the article over at ANewMorning.com to be the mayor. I think he was just trying to get traffic to his website. To make a claim that Engadget is biased to the Apple side is completely absurd. They (Engadget) are a tech news site, just like Technorati, ArsTechnica, GDGT or even Gizmodo. Their job is to report. That’s pretty much all they do, and everynow and again have an opinion on things. So for you to say they are biased, and that is the reason why they pulled the article, is just plain stupid.

Lets start with the original article that was pulled:

The article was mysteriously pulled yesterday, and many were looking for it a few hours after it was posted. Myself included, because my At&t contract is up, and was looking to see if the EVO was a better option.

I went to Digg because the link on the Engadget website went away.. I left a comment to see if anyone had picked up a cached version of it because I wanted to read it. You will notice, a couple people left comments with links (including myself) to the bing and google cached version.

Then I get up today and I read this article over at Engadget and all seemed to be ok.

UNTIL I came across this article about how Engadget was biased…

Wow, what a stretch of the imagination. Do I hear jealousy?? Does someone want an iPhone instead of their EVO? Is someone jealous they aren’t being talked about?

If you have been too busy watching the rumor mill on the iPhone 4G/HD/A4 or whatever and just can’t seem to wait, check this out. If you want to re-purpose your iPhone 3G or iPhone 2G(original), then I think trying to put Android on your phone is a great time killer.

In case you have missed it because of all the “hub-bub” of the leaked iPhone 4G photos and all the friggin’ press about it.. I submit to you: Android on the iPhone!!! Engadget first brought this via LinuxoniPhone on April 21st 2010. Now obviously this wasn’t the first time, and there was some leg work behind this, but this seems to be an early attempt at getting the Android on the iPhone. Basically the first version only ran on the 2G and had some problems with the audio, but this was just the beginning… (video below) Just a few days later, he posted the instructions to install it on the 2G

Soon thereafter, the next progression was the iPhone 3G. The same there, it didn’t start out with all the bells and whistles, but soon he started working on the binaries and ended up getting an article in PC World. (video of 3G below)

Now, with the latest release of Android, codenamed “Froyo”, it has just been another natural progression, but it seems the latest and greatest causes the iPhone to overheat after less than 10 minutes or so of use.. so be warned, this is not for the faint of heart!

Early beta builds of new Xbox 360 firmware look to have added streaming Hulu to the mix. Xbox already runs Facebook, Twitter and Netflix, this would be more over a nail in the coffin of traditional television. It also seems that the announcement may be just around the corner at E3 2010. It seems that Microsoft is trying to stay up-to-date with some of the new internet television boxes, with the likes of the Boxee Box, Apple TV, Popcorn Box and the soon to be Google TV. Will the Xbox become the main media center, or will it’s age begin to show??? We shall see..

Anyone remember MSN TV??? Anyone remember Apple TV? Or even as late, have you heard about Boxee or Popbox? Well apparently Google seems to think they have it, and want to get it out in time for the 2010 holiday season.

Announced just a few days ago, along with Froyo (Android 2.2 update), Google TV will soon be in the living rooms of everyone! Well at least that’s what they want. Google knows that You Tube is the world’s largest video website, but wants everyone to be able to see it on a big screen, instead of your small screen PC, especially with all of the HD content that is accessible through their servers. They realized that every HTPC out there kinda needs some work. So they have thrown their hat into the ring to see if they can get it right. To kind of give you an idea what they are working on, here is an official video from Google:

There is fierce competition out there though. Many people already use some sort of combination of web connected devices to stream their content to the HDTV, but can Google trounce them all and be your all in one device?

For instance, me personally, I use an XBOX 360 to watch Netflix HD streaming, and my Philips BD5012 to watch blu-ray movies and my HP dv4-1275mx I connect to my HDTV to watch my podcasts(Mostly Rev3 stuff) via iTunes. So in this situation, I have several devices to watch web video on my tv, but if I can get everything in one device, why not?

Google also says that everyone still wants to have access to the ‘full web’ and not a cramped down version for your tv, so they also throw in a browser as well. So in their browser, not only will you be able to browse the web, but you will also be able to watch video inside the browser as well, not just inside their tv app. The basic idea that they have, is that it is too hard right now to find what you want to watch, with all these menus and tables and craziness. They want to simplify the search and make it easier to find what you want to watch.

The idea is to be in a set top box (STB) or built in to the TV. They don’t want you to have to be in your extra inputs, they want to be the only thing you need. With the new GoogleTV, you will be able to watch live television or web tv right next to each other as a seamless experience. It seem there will be a simply overlay on your content to find what it is you are looking for.. so far, I like the idea.

Some of the first companies to bring it to us will be Sony, Logitech and Intel. It looks like Samsung is still thinking about it.
