iTunes online

So, now lala is now property of Apple. Did anyone notice what happened to the Apple’s website, specifically the iTunes section? They now have iTunes Preview. Basically if you don’t have iTunes or want to download it, but you want to hear a preview of the song your looking for, you can now hear it without having to have iTunes installed on your local PC. The only thing that doesn’t work is buying. You still have to have iTunes on your PC to make your purchase. So when you try to buy it, it links directly to iTunes and loads up the page inside of the app.

I must have missed the announcement, but still this cool to see iTunes online. Check out the Preview on apple.com/itunes

iPhone Rumors aside, a 5MP camera sounds awesome!

iphone3gWith the iPhone rumors a stirr, since there is a scheduled event that normally takes place around January every year, I figured I would give you one that I thought was rather interesting and seemed a bit more plausible for a June/July 2010 release. I assume that they would talk about it in the January event, and make us wait till June, like they have before. The tidbits that I am hearing is about a new 5MP camera that would shoot 1080p video. Now I find this plausible because of the source of the current iPhone’s camera, OmniVision seems to say they will be supplying Apple with a lot of these cameras for a summer release. To be completely honest, I would be more than thrilled to know that I waited 2 years for the 4th gen iPhone and skipped the 3GS. I would be even happier if AT&T would get off their duff and make the iPhone use its 7.2Mbps connection, or at least have 4G ready by then, and would make it a perfect union of 4’s! With this camera, it looks like you will also be able to shoot 1080p video! Does that mean we will finally be able to watch our HD versions of our movies?? Because I have a lot of podcasts that I watch everyweek, but I have to watch them on my PC b/c my iPhone doesn’t do HD. How about it Apple, you could blow M$ out of the water with an iPhone HD. The only thing is, the iPhone screen is still a crummy 320×480. I guess if they did a 5MP camera, they would also have to up the screen resolution as well.. that’s my take on it.

Merry Christmas!!

-Sent from my iPhone is still ok!

So I was on digg (as I am everyday..) and I was reading this article about Steve Jobs being a man of few words, and I absolutely LOVED it!!! This was a great read, but I had to laugh at his reply, it had the “Sent from my iPhone” signature attached! I remember reading an article somewhere saying that it was no longer o.k. to do that, and that you were just being a doucebag if you still had that on your emails.

Well, king of douchebags is still doing it, so I call it now, it’s still o.k.!

did DLO and Belkin miss the memo??

OK, so I was at BestBuy today and I saw some new cases for the NEW iPod Touch. I didn’t know that there was one. Even with the Apple store being down for a few hours this past week, I still didn’t see a refresh in the iPod touch line. Am I the only one that has seen this, or is Apple allowing these cases to go out for a future release of a touch with a camera???

new iPods 2009

touch shuffle nano04

If you missed it today, Apple has released their new iPods for the holiday season. Just to give you a run down of what was released:

iPod Nano now has a video camera. 8GB is now $149 and 16GB is $179. It comes with a FM RADIO!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will have the new Genius Mixes and also adds a pedometer for your Nike+. This was pretty much in line with the rumors.

The shuffle is now in the same colors as before, except that they have a special edition stainless steel. They added 3rd party support for headphones to have the remote in their headsets.

The iPod classic is 160GB again, but for the $249 price.

The iPod Touch will now be doubled again to 64GB, but for the previous 32GB price! Now I can’t wait till next June to see the 4G 64GB iPhone on VERIZON!!!! ha ha ha… just kidding. Also the new 3.1 update that has actually been out for a while.

That’s pretty much it. Not enough for me to go out and get a new iPod, but cool if you haven’t upgraded in a while.

Line2 now available (suspiciously like GoogleVoice)

line22

So TokTumi has now had their app (Line2) approved for the iPhone, and it is live in the App Store now. The funny part about this is, that it its very similar to GoogleVoice. The only major difference is that the Line2 serves all it’s calls over the network instead of over wifi.

Sorry, I got a little ahead of myself there, Line2 is TokTumi’s new application that allows you to have 2 lines for the same iPhone/Blackberry. One for personal, one for business. They even have their own voicemail system, but no SMS. You can sign up for a number on the Line2 website. (I checked 615, and there are some numbers available.) I find this to be rather odd, in that it copies features that are already on the iPhone; which according to Steve Jobs, is STRICTLY VERBOTEN(in the voice of Lewis Black)!!! That’s kinda of funny since the reason GoogleVoice app just got denied in the App Store, just last month. So let’s see a comparison:

googlevoice3

Boy that looks oddly familiar! GoogleVoice gives you a separate number, but allows it to ring on several different devices. (”One ring to rule them all!”) The Line2 app can do the same as well, as they have their own hosted PBX. Even other features like call screening and auto attendant. REALLY!? REALLY!!??

Like I said before, I think the reason that Line2 got in, was that they are directing calls over the AT&T network instead of over wifi that GoogleVoice does. One thing I don’t see is the price for the service. You can’t see the price for the service on the front end, without having to sign up for number first. The site does say you can sign up for a 30-day free trial, and then pay for the $0.99 app on the iTunes App Store. Is it worth it?? Does anyone know the price after the 30-day free trial??? If you do, leave comments below!
